Triple Olympic gold medallist Jess Fox marked a triumphant return to competition, claiming victory in the women’s kayak final at the Canoe Slalom National Championships.
After a lengthy period on the sidelines, Fox’s performance at the Penrith Whitewater Stadium signalled a powerful comeback ahead of the competitive season.
The Australian star had been forced to miss the remainder of last season’s World Cup circuit following surgery to remove a tumour in August.

Despite the time away, Fox showed no signs of rust, delivering a composed run to secure gold on home waters, defeating her sister Noemie Fox in the process.
“The Nationals are always a good hit-out and a good race domestically,” said Fox.
“For us, it’s our last event before we go overseas for our World Cup races, so it’s always important to race it, connect with the community, and see the younger athletes. Being able to engage with them is very special.”
Fox’s victory not only marks a successful return to form but also sets a strong foundation as she prepares to rejoin the international stage for the upcoming World Cup season.
