Lukas Horak and Oldrich Dasek of Czechia won the men's kayak double class as Estonia hosted the 20th edition of the Vohandu Marathon this year.
A record-breaking 1,341 boats from 30 countries lined up for the event that saw paddlers battle it out for 100 kilometres, starting from Lake Tamula in Voru.
While the course record remained unbroken this year, two teams completed the challenging race in under eight hours.
Horak and Dasek finished in 7:51:24, falling 27 minutes short of the course record.
According to the organisers, the record could have been broken if the water level had been higher.
Pieter Paauw and Francois Boucher of France, who won the race last year, came second in 8:10:07
Martin Nordstrand, racing in a kayak single, bagged third place, clocking an impressive 8:21:23.
Home stars Linda Tetsmann and Anette Baum, in the women's K2, missed the podium by 35 seconds, finishing in 08:21:58.
Another Estonian Oleg Mozessov rounded off the top five, crossing the line in a K1 in 8:27:16.
The only other team to record a timing of under eight hours came from Lithuania.
However, it was achieved outside the official competition, in the men’s K3 thanks to Arunas Dubauskas, Deividas Satikas, and Vaidas Linkevicius completing the race in 7:44:52.
With a cut-off time of 24 hours, 1,245 boats finished the race this year, resulting in a high completion rate of nearly 93 per cent.
