Italy delivered a standout performance at the International Canoe Federation Canoe Slalom Ranking Race in Solkan, Slovenia, claiming six of the 12 medals on offer in an impressive display of dominance.

Xabier Ferrazzi and Elio Maiutto led the charge for the Italians, each securing gold in the men’s kayak and canoe finals, respectively.

There was joy for the hosts in the women’s C1 with Slovenia’s Eva Lin Hocevar emerging victorious, holding off strong competition from France’s Doriane Delassus, who had earlier surged to victory in the women’s K1.

Delassus delivered a commanding run to take gold in 101.79 in the women’s K1, ahead of Hocevar who crossed the line in 102.67. Italy’s Lucia Pistoni secured bronze in 102.95 despite incurring four second penalties.

Hocevar got her revenge by taking gold in the women’s C1 as she denied Delassus a second victory of the day. The Frenchwoman finished in 105.43, while Italy’s Elena Micozzi claimed bronze in 106.97.
