The men's and women's groups and fixtures for Canoe Polo at The World Games Chengdu 2025 have been confirmed.  

Among the men, world champions Germany will face Great Britain, Italy, and China in Group A, while European champions and debutants Denmark will be up against France, Spain, and Poland in Group B.   

The women's competition will see New Zealand compete against Iran, Germany, and China in Group A, with Italy, Spain, Denmark, and the Netherlands pitted in Group B.  

All teams in the group stages will play three games each before proceeding to the quarter-finals stage.  

After training and scrutineering on August 12, the group stage action will occur at the Jianyang Cultural and Sports Center on August 13 and 14.  

The quarterfinals are scheduled for August 15, with the semi-finals and finals set for August 16. 

Germany will face Italy in the first men's game in Chengdu

Round one begins with a mouth-watering women's clash between New Zealand and Germany at 11.00, with both teams capable of going all the way to the finals. 

Germany will also set the ball rolling among the men, taking on Italy at 13.40. 

Hosts China will face Iran first in the women's competition, with both teams set for their first-ever appearance in Canoe Polo at The World Games. 

The women's semi-finals are at 12.20 and 13.00 on August 16 followed by the men's semi-finals at 13.40 and 14.20. The women's final is at 19.20 and the men's final is at 20.00. 

Canoe Polo has been part of The World Games programme since Duisburg 2005.     

Along with Canoe Polo, Dragon Boat and Canoe Marathon competitions will be held at Chengdu 2025.

“We are pleased with the official Canoe Polo draw for The World Games Chengdu 2025,” ICF Canoe Polo Committee Chair Greg Smale said.  

“There are many interesting match-ups in the group stages, with reigning women’s World Championships gold medallist New Zealand taking on traditional powerhouse Germany.  

“The teams and players are all excited and so are we. I am sure Chengdu will put on a show come August.”
