Canoe slalom world championship fever has overtaken the city of Augsburg, with tickets for Saturday’s finals officially sold out.

Event organisers announced on Tuesday that all of the 7300 tickets available for Saturday’s competition, which will feature men’s and women’s K1 finals as well as the early rounds of the extreme slalom, have been sold.

As a result no more weekly or weekend tickets are available. However individual daily tickets are still available, but selling fast.

The ICF Canoe and Extreme Slalom World Championships will be officially opened in Augsburg’s Town Square (Rathausplatz) on Tuesday night by Augsburg Mayor, Eva Weber, ICF President Thomas Konietzko and German Canoe Federation President, Jens Perlwitz.

Racing begins on Wednesday with teams competition in men’s and women’s K1 and C1.

Organisers say there will still be tickets available on Saturday for children under 12 and for people accompanying persons with a disability.

Tickets for the remaining day of competition can be bought at the tourist information centre on Rathausplatz, or online at augsburg2022.com/tickets.
