Sao Tome and Principe’s Joao Costa Alegre successfully extended his tenure as President of the Confederation of African Canoeing following election at the 2016 African Canoeing Congress held at Assagay near Durban, South Africa.

Costa Alegre is also President of the Sao Tome and Principe National Olympic Committee and currently in his first term as the 2nd Vice President of the International Canoe Federation (pictured second in on the left).

Somalia’s Said Mohammed Haid was elected as the confederations 1st Vice President, with Festus Porbeni from Nigeria securing the 2nd Vice President position.

Djibouti’s Ahmed Abdoulkader will start his first term as the continental Treasure following a vote of confidence from the continents federations.

Seif Patwa extended his term as Secretary General after standing unopposed.

Each of the elected members will now serve a four year mandate.
