Organisers of this year’s International Canoe Federation Masters Canoe Sprint World Championships are promising an “unforgettable experience” for paddlers in Montemor-o-Velho, Portugal.

Registration has opened for the event that will take place from July 29 to 31 at the Centre for High Performance Montemor-o-Velho.

It will be the third time the Portuguese town has staged the competition where paddlers ranging from over 35 to over 75 will battle it out for masters world titles.

Participants will have the chance to race over the distances of 200m and 500m in kayak single, kayak double, kayak four, canoe single, canoe double and canoe four.

As well as men’s and women’s races, there will also be mixed events in K2, K4, C2 and C4.

There is no limit to the number of boats entered per country in each event with all categories featuring five-year age groups.

The maximum age group will be over 75 for all categories.

In the team events, athletes from different countries can come together in the same boat while their age group will be set according to the age of the youngest paddler in the team.

The deadline for entries is June 29 — exactly one month before the ICF Masters Canoe Sprint World Championships is due to start.

All the registration details and information on the event can be found in the newly published first bulletin.
