ICF Paracanoe World Championships Szeged 2024

The ICF Paracanoe World Championships in Szeged, Hungary finished with an impressive 30 nations earning athlete qualification slots for the upcoming Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

All continents have achieved representation.  Fifty percent of the athletes are from Europe which is not surprising.  However, Asia has vaulted to second place in the athlete total with 26 per cent from that continent.

The competition had 35 nations competing with 194 athletes. A total of 38 athletes attended athlete classification.

As usual, the competition was of a very high calibre with numerous very tight finishes.

Virtually all the highest ranked athletes were present as this event is used not only to award the final 40 athlete quota slots but also to establish the seeding for the heats in Paris.

In the lead up to Paris, the competitors could not have had a better competition to assess their progress from the last competition season as well as to prioritise their final preparatory training programmes for the Games.
