Nelia Barbosa is extremely passionate about Canoe Slalom. So much so that she advocates it at every opportunity during our latest Path to Paris podcast.

The French Paracanoe star will take to the waters at the Vaires-sur Marne Nautical Stadium, hoping to upgrade from the KL3 silver she won at Tokyo 2020.

While winning gold is definitely among her goals, the 25-year-old world and European medallist has two other agendas at the Paralympic Games.

Firstly, she wants to show youngsters, especially girls, that they can live a normal life with prosthetics.

The other one? Yep, that’s right. More Canoe Slalom.

“Slalom is joyful. When children begin kayaking, they begin with Canoe Slalom,” she said.

“It will help if athletes practise both and I hope other Para stars hear what I am saying here.”
