The International Canoe Federation can today confirm that all the Canoe Slalom quotas have been allocated for the Olympic Games in Paris.
With 17 days to go until the Olympics are officially opened, the ICF can reveal the nations that have secured quotas for the Games where kayak cross will make its debut.
A total of 84 paddlers from 32 National Olympic Committees across Africa, Asia, Europe, Pan America and Oceania will compete for Canoe Slalom glory in Paris.
Among them is an additional quota awarded in May to Amir Rezanejad Hassanjani after the International Olympic Committee named him as part of its Refugee Olympic Team for Paris 2024, while a quota was also awarded to Comoros by the Olympic Games Tripartite Commission.
France won six quotas, meaning home paddlers will compete in women’s canoe, men’s canoe, women’s kayak, men’s kayak, women’s kayak cross and men’s kayak cross.
Czechia, Spain and Germany all have won five quotas each, while Australia, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Slovenia and Slovakia have each earned four spots.

There will be three paddlers lining up for each of the Austrian, Chinese, Dutch and Polish teams at the Games.
Brazil, Canada, New Zealand, Switzerland, Chinese Taipei and the United States have all earned two quotas each.
The countries with a single representative are Algeria, Andora, Croatia, Morrocco, Mexico, Senegal, Sweden, Tunisia and Ukraine.
Among those, Tunisia and Comoros will make their debuts in Canoe Slalom at the Olympics.
Gender parity has been secured for another Olympics, with three women’s and three men’s events in Canoe Slalom.
The competition will take place from July 27 to August 5 at the Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium.
Qualification for Canoe Slalom started in June 2023, with the first places awarded at the European Games and the allocation completed following the kayak cross global qualifier in June 2024.

“Many of the paddlers that will be competing at the Games are already in Paris training at the Olympic course.
“There is great excitement for these Games, especially around the debut appearance of kayak cross on the Olympic stage.
“I am really looking forward to the competition getting underway, as I am sure the Olympics will be a great success for Canoe Slalom.”
